Today we leave for Normandy where the great D-Day battle took place. I started to take a weekend seminar course about “Operation Overlord”, but it was cancelled due to not having enough participants. I’ve watched several videos about the battle, so now I will get to see where these events actually took place.

We are staying in a small castle, which will be a first for me, which was used by the American Press Corps as a home base for the coverage of Overlord. I am excited about going! Now, I must get in the shower!!!!

I hope to post pictures of Berlin and Normandy very soon!

Well, we had a great trip to Berlin. I must admit my expectations of Berlin were somewhat low – I only expected a normal European city. Berlin seems to have an extraordinary personality filled with remnants of the past, but the capital city of Germany has great hope for the future. We will most likely be going back this summer when the tops will be removed from the tour buses. As we rode past a section of the old wall that still stands, our tour guide informed us about something known as “woodpeckers” – tourists or people that used to removed pieces of the old wall for souveniers. We didn’t get to see the zoo or aquarium, but we hope to next time. We did make it to KaDeWe which is the largest department store on the European continent. What a place! The whole sixth floor is nothing but food! I’ve never seen anything like it before in my life. It is a must see when touring Berlin. We got only a glimpse of “Checkpoint Charlie”; we didn’t get off the bus at that stop because of our time allowance. We did spend some time at the Sony Center which is a very nice display of architechture. There is much more to see, and I am looking forward to our next visit to Berlin…

In about an hour-and-a-half from now, I’ll be taking the Psychology 100 final. I have put in several hours of studying, so I hope to have an exceptional performance. I’ve learned a lot about human behavior and the factors that affect its shape. I went through a lot of my life not understanding what caused my to be the way I am. This course has shed light on a lot of this misunderstanding.

I will have a nice long break of about four weeks until I start my next courses, which consists of Understanding Movies (satisfies the general education requirement for arts and humanities) and Expository and Research Writing. Because of being approved for a loan and being awarded a scholorship, I will be able to take two classes this term!

I am determined to get a college degree…
