Well, we had a great trip to Berlin. I must admit my expectations of Berlin were somewhat low – I only expected a normal European city. Berlin seems to have an extraordinary personality filled with remnants of the past, but the capital city of Germany has great hope for the future. We will most likely be going back this summer when the tops will be removed from the tour buses. As we rode past a section of the old wall that still stands, our tour guide informed us about something known as “woodpeckers” – tourists or people that used to removed pieces of the old wall for souveniers. We didn’t get to see the zoo or aquarium, but we hope to next time. We did make it to KaDeWe which is the largest department store on the European continent. What a place! The whole sixth floor is nothing but food! I’ve never seen anything like it before in my life. It is a must see when touring Berlin. We got only a glimpse of “Checkpoint Charlie”; we didn’t get off the bus at that stop because of our time allowance. We did spend some time at the Sony Center which is a very nice display of architechture. There is much more to see, and I am looking forward to our next visit to Berlin…
